Youngsters

So J.D. Salinger died. Because of his extreme disdain for being in the public eye, we haven't seen any work from him in over 30 years, however....I'm still saddened. Just knowing that he was up there in the Northeast writing, if even for himself, was comforting. A light has officially gone out. Everyone knows his affinity for youth, so I'm posting some photos that celebrate such....enjoy.
Photo by Chrissie White. She's only sixteen, and her photography is just true.
This is actually me, my bro and my dad. I did not know this photo existed until I was about a year ago, and it made me happy.
Diane Arbus. I love this contact sheet. This kid is just going to town for the camera! The winner was the last photo on this roll of film....and the most demented. Totally her style. I also love the randomness of the photo on the top right...

Lewis Hine. Although, this doesn't really celebrate youth (it's a photo from his collection of child labor photos), it does express it. I love the boy on the right. His stance and glare seems so adult... almost fatherly.

...The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody'd move...Nobody'd be different. The only thing that would be different would be you....

Pants, pants, pants.

Denim Fendi wedges for 35 dollars. That's what I'm talkin about. They go with everything, including Delilah who's enjoying the view out our window on a cloudy day.
Beaded necklace for $2 fity! Also, goes with everything
I just realized everything i'm wearing in this picture is secondhand. Including accessories. I love that. There is something great about giving clothes new life. Maybe these trousers have been to a PTA meeting, and my pearl snap shirt to a rodeo.

Black Santa

These are my favorite boots. So comfy. They're Born, and usually their shoes are not so aesthetically appealing, but these go with everything. Also, never mind the mess. I'm working on organizing it. (YEAH! That IS a leopard print snuggie)!!!

Thrifted blazer and beaded necklace, Urban Outfitters scarf, Forev 21 leggings and rose ring, Bare boots, and stolen old Metallica shirt from my boyfriend's closet. (I love this shirt, it's hilarious...pretty sure i wear it more than he does).

Cat's Meow

TINA
First of all...have you seen her sick dance moves?!? She's so cute!
JOANNA
She plays harp, and sings and references C.S. Lewis in her lyrics....so she also wins. Also, adorable. (I'm not sure if I'm annoyed she's dating Andy Samberg (spelling?) though).
BJORK
I still don't understand why everyone in the world gave her so much grief over wearing that swan dress. She is the only person who can pull that off (hence, the full knit gown below), she should have gotten some mad props. She also sings like my soul sounds sometimes.
DEBORAH
I think some people forget how punk this chick was. She's totally hot and from the ages of 14-19 she was my hero. Are you wearing a shirt and boots SANS pants, Debbie?
TINA
Everyone knows why.
STEVIE
Gypsy, rag doll.
ANNIE
Derrrr.

MEEEE-OW.

HOMIES

2 HoMES.
Since I got this new job. (New as in 5 months old) I've been staying in Dallas, and about 25 minutes away from my place...I love it here, the close proximity of things. The view of the skyline, the crazy homeless people, bars that aren't "sports bars"....but I miss all my lovely things. (Materialistic, maybe). Is that a hot pink body pillow lying my floor? Pssshhh, Don't Judge me! Here's a little comparative post. You can guess which one is mine I'm sure.

Otherwise a lazy Sunday. I'm gonna hem some vintage dresses. I believe tonight will be a date night.

HAPPY NEWEST.
I realize I have not posted in months, but I am going to start more now. Here are a few things from the end of last year. Jonathan's art at FuNcTioN, Port Twilight at the Undermain Theatre, and there are more to come. The first photo is by a man named Sinosa, he set up "the smallest studio in the world at this art show, and he was so kind to share his photos with everyone who had their portrait made.

These are images of Port Twilight by Len Jenkins, showing at the Undermain Theatre in Deep Elum for the next two weeks. Whether you're a theatre fan, poet, or just love amazing aesthetics (who doesn't) you should see this show. The cast is incredible and not to mention good looking :) Set design, cast, direction, music and script A++++!!!
Kent Williams as Mr. Argento

Shannon Kearns-Simmons as Donna
