elefant

This weekend was maximally relaxing, not too much movement, not too many purchases (trying to ease up on those). Finished a great book by Ms. Cintra Wilson. Found about 6 Woody Allen movies at a garage sale, and spent plenty of time snuggling and watching them. We win. Here's an outfit post, in hopes to aesthetically please you. muah!

My elephant broach I very clumsily attached to a chain and transformed into a necklace, and my very special cameo ring j bought me for balentimes day.
Oooooh, here's a good one. My ridonk-donk collection of funky-chunky-totem spirit-charmy-necklaces hanging on the wall.
Wearing vintage Evan Picone blazer, thrifted pleated giant pants, Target leggings, thrifted braided leather belt,Steve Madden brogues
I looked everywhere for these kindsa pants. Big ol' black ones with pleats. (Which I had to reiron into them, because they were at this junked out thrift store). I only wish the waist band went up a little higher around my mid section.
And here is a loverly Sunday portrait of me and my doggie. Mad chillin.

This post was composed to the sounds of the band, Madness. Yum.
Happy end of February.

Keep's Sake

There was an old ugly dresser that's been in my family for years, we got tired of looking at it...and this is what we created out of it.
I have been keeping up with a very large collection of paper and stickers and scraps for about 10 years to use for this very reason. The photo above is the decopodge process.
I know this photo of the dressers shows it incomplete, woops. What really made the whole project fun was running around looking for different antique or antique looking drawer pulls. We found some a Lula B's on Greenville and Elliott's Hardware off Maple has a MASSIVE hardware section, I even found little acorn ones!
This is a close up pf one of the drawers. I cut out some of my favorite lines from one of my favorite plays and pasted them over these saweet B&W photos. Sheet music and tissue paper are always winners too...and old cd jackets, (as you can see, we utilized the frog from Silverchair's Frogstomp. Booyay 90's).

Welp, i'm off to Thrift shop.....AGAIN. It's seriously a problem. Really....I could open a small vintage store.

Youngsters

So J.D. Salinger died. Because of his extreme disdain for being in the public eye, we haven't seen any work from him in over 30 years, however....I'm still saddened. Just knowing that he was up there in the Northeast writing, if even for himself, was comforting. A light has officially gone out. Everyone knows his affinity for youth, so I'm posting some photos that celebrate such....enjoy.
Photo by Chrissie White. She's only sixteen, and her photography is just true.
This is actually me, my bro and my dad. I did not know this photo existed until I was about a year ago, and it made me happy.
Diane Arbus. I love this contact sheet. This kid is just going to town for the camera! The winner was the last photo on this roll of film....and the most demented. Totally her style. I also love the randomness of the photo on the top right...

Lewis Hine. Although, this doesn't really celebrate youth (it's a photo from his collection of child labor photos), it does express it. I love the boy on the right. His stance and glare seems so adult... almost fatherly.

...The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody'd move...Nobody'd be different. The only thing that would be different would be you....
