Harper Blynn

So here's a post about some of my favorite dudes in the world who happen to be in one of my favorite bands in the world, Harper Blynn. They've been playing a residency at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood for a bit now, and me and J have been lucky enough to make it out to several of their shows. If you haven't heard them I highly suggest you give them a listen. They're musical stylings include: unmatched vocals from both singers (that's right! 2 lead singers!) and harmonies that make you just shake your head and furrow your brow (in a good way) on their recordings and most impressively, live... one of the most creative drummers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and totally sick bass riffs.

Also, they are all handsome. So there's that.

Why Harper Blynn has not exploded is beyond me, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to happen soon. I'll be one of the lucky ones that got to see them before they blew up and starting snorting lines of coke in their badass tour bus! *Not really, I don't think they'd do that.

Go to their website and have a listen. If you want to ease into it listen to their cover of Halo (the Beyonce song), you'll be a believer after that. Then buy some of their songs.

Here's Jonny.

Jonny is making an appearance today. I have a husband that is way more fun to look at than me, so I figure I might as well exploit him. Naaah, what really happened was we kinda color coordinated on accident. I know some couples don't like matching, but I think it's aaaadooooorable. I suppose we were both vibe-ing on green and black that day. He found that INCREDIBLE wool Polo sweater at Jet Rag, and he loves it so much he even sleeps in it (not really).

We had an exciting married couples day that included eating at Big Fat Pita in the food court at the mall. Jealous?
To some people, this might sound like torture. The mall... food court... in December? Awww HELL NO! But, we loved it. Probably only because we never go there so it was sort of a novelty experience. It was rainy and cold and Christmasy and we went to Target too AND Home Depot!! We are so settled and shit.

Being as it is rainy and cold and getting dark so early it's been hard to shoot. However, we found this great light in an alley near our house. I always test the light on Jonny and get my camera settings right before giving him the camera to shoot, but on this day he just looked too handsome... I had to share these shots.
(Gag, I know....)

Easy Rider

It's getting cooler and rainy in SoCal! Time to bust out my arsenal of blazers!!! I'm pretty happy about this weather. It's getting me in the holiday spirit. Vince Guaraldi Trio Christmas album commence!

Is this look Equestrian inspired? Maybe. According to the heavy breathing greasy guy that passed me in the Post Office parking lot, definitely. He was all, "Hey! Where's your horses?!?" and I was all, "Up your butt and around the corner, wise guy!".... J/K. I only think to say zingers like that AFTER I've gotten in my car and am driving away.

But I don't blame him honestly. I mean, the boots....the riding pants....the scarf under the collared shirt....sometimes I'll put on things that look waaaay to costume-y, but if I make the individual pieces a little off beat, it's just "inspired" and not a "costume" in my book, mmkay? For example, the pattern mixing and the shirt that says "Shanghai" in script all over it....those are enough for me to not look too much like Jackie O in her horse-riding period.

And yes the black bra under the sheer-ish shirt was a conscious style choice. I'm still not sure if I regret it.
