Splurge Vs. Save: A Cruelty Free Skin Care Product Guide

Facewash

Body Wash/Lotion

Lip Balm

Moisturizer

Acne Spot Treatment

Scent

Nail Polish

In my fur/leather in fashion post, I talked about wearing 1st hand leather in moderation. Besides that though, I was thrilled with all the opinions and points of view written in the comments. I already shared with you guys that I had made the switch to almost all cruelty-free skin care products, so I thought I'd let you know exactly which products I use! All of the products above I have sought out, bought, and used on my skin. I'd recommend them to anyone who isn't a leper or the like. (In that case, please consult a professional).

I know I listed Arcona twice, but I am a BIG advocate of them. I love their line, and it saved my skin after it went berserk from the treated water and dirty air in LA. I had been using the same face wash for almost 5 years, and when I moved out here it stopped working. I broke out like a 15 year old. As soon as I started on the Arcona skincare line, my skin balanced itself out.

However, Arcona, like a lot of the cruelty free stuff I use is kinda pricey so I thought I'd share the lower priced stuff I've tried out too! People need options, ya know? I know the Prada at the bottom may be confusing. The company that makes their perfume, Puig, is entirely cruelty free.

FYI: My skin type is SENSITIVE....like if you look at me wrong I get a rash.

(This is NOT a sponsored post, I truly like and use all of these products)

Vinyl Veekend: The Pretenders, Get Close

It's been a while since I've done one of these. I karaoke-ed The Pretenders at my birthday party the other night, and thought they would be a great band to recommend on vinyl. You can typically find this album at any used book/record store.

Chrissie Hynde is one of my favorite female vocalists: alto with a femme fatale quality. (Think Joan Jette mixed with Annie Lennox with a tinge of a jazzy cadence...but really she's in a category all her own). This album is good for the guys and the girls, but when I listen to it...it makes me feel like a sassy lady. (On second thought I think it might make Jonathan feel like a sassy lady too). For some reason when I'm getting ready to go out and I put this album on it makes I'm warped into some cute 80's movie montage where I want to make funny faces in a steamy mirror or put on a ridiculous outfit and do a little dance.

Also, Catherine Zeta Jones was wearing a Pretenders shirt in High Fidelity in the "John Cusack's character is falling head over heels in love" monologue/montage. Ya' know, cause The Pretenders were the band the cool girls liked in the 80's.

Polka Dot Palazzo Pants

 Oh my word, y'all. This month has been crazy busy. The weather is starting to get beautiful and my loved ones from Texas are flocking to LA. Not complaining, because my house has been full of best friends and siblings and my sweet parents HOWEVER when getting dressed all I have time to do is throw on something with an elastic waist. (This is the time where I would pull my elastic waist band away from my belly with my thumb, give you a wink and snap it back).

Enter polka dot pocketed palazzo paaaaaants! (I win at alliteration).
P pants (what I'm calling palazzo pants from here on out in this post, for your pleasure) are one of the most hilarious pieces of clothing to me. Mostly because people think you're wearing a skirt, and then when you do a deep lunge everyone is happily surprised at the P Pant cuteness.  (Kinda like a skort. Skorts are hilarious to me too, but I don't do deep lunges in them). P pants also happen be one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing. All the freedom of a skirt, but you can can do high kicks.

I kept the rest of the outfit easy as well. The sweater shirt is one of my favorites (it kinda has the same affect on the girls as the one in this post) I'm quite sure I have never seen another vintage piece quite that color green. The three watches are a go-to when I'm accessorizing, and don't have time to think. And finally, the neutral brogues...if you don't have a pair, you should getcha some. They go with EVERYTHING in the summer and spring. Seriously. I'm trying to think of what they don't go with and I can't.
{Shoes: Gifted Kenneth Cole  (similar and not as expensive here
(and these in brown and white for a no lace version...adorable!!)}{Panama Hat: Thrifted (similar)}
{P Pants: Thrifted (I found these on ASOS they aren't capris but they are polka dotted and super cute!}
{Shirt, Belt, Watches and Bag: Thrifted}
